Jordan Bitterman - Senior Vice President of Media, Marketing & Content, Digitas Jordan Bitterman has been with Digitas since August 2005. As Senior Vice President, he is responsible for overseeing the interplay of paid, earned, and owned media and leading the agency’s media capability and social marketing practice. He has also played a central role in the development of Digitas’ brand content offering – The Third Act – and is a founding producer of its annual NewFront event, which pairs marketers with content creators. Before joining Digitas, Jordan was VP Group Media Director at FCBi. Before that, he worked at Digitas’ sister company Modem Media, where he ran the media capability for its New York office. He spent many years early in his career at Ammirati Puris Lintas, beginning on the traditional media side, but later moving over to the Interactive division. At 26, he was a Senior Vice President and the youngest member of the company’s New York Operating Board, a group of 30 executives tasked with leading key initiatives for the 1,100 person flagship office. Jordan began his professional career at the White House in The Office of Presidential Press Advance. In that role, his office was responsible for orchestrating the movements of the White House press corps in following the President. Rick Borovoy - Visiting Scientist, MIT Media Lab Rick Borovoy is a Visiting Scientist at the MIT Media Lab's Center for Future Civic Media, where he develops tools to facilitate face-to-face interaction. After receiving his Ph.D. from the Media Lab, he co-founded nTAG Interactive, which provides data solutions for networking at conferences, sales meetings, and similar events. Nayan Chanda - Editor, YaleGlobal Online and Director of Publications, Yale Center for the Study of Globalization For nearly thirty years before Nayan Chanda joined Yale University, he worked for Hong Kong-based magazine The Far Eastern Economic Review as editor, editor-at-large, and correspondent. From 1989-90, Chanda was the Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, and from 1990-1992 he was the editor of the Asian Wall Street Journal Weekly. Kevin Clinkscales - Senior Vice President, Content Development and Enterprises, ESPN Keith Clinkscales launched ESPN’s media incubator – Content Development – and established ESPN Films, executive producing all content for the group and engendering innovation, experimentation, and breakthrough sports-driven programming/initiatives, integrated across all ESPN media platforms. Scott Dadich - Vice President, Digital Magazine Development, Condé Nast Scott Dadich leads the creative efforts to build digital editions of Condé Nast's titles for electronic reading devices. He was the creative director of Condé Nast's WIRED, where he initiated and led the development of WIRED for iPad, which was introduced in May 2010. Duncan Edwards - President and CEO, Hearst Magazines International Duncan Edwards is the President and CEO of Hearst Magazines International, an EVP of Hearst Magazines, and Vice Chairman of the National Magazine Company (NatMag), Hearst’s publishing business in the U.K. He is responsible for all of Hearst’s magazine operations outside of the U.S., which include operations in nearly 60 countries. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Chief Executive of NatMag. He joined NatMag in 1989 and served in various executive roles, including publisher of Company magazine, director of business development, and managing director. During Edwards’ time at NatMag, through a mix of launches, acquisitions, and joint ventures, the company grew from publishing nine magazines in 2000 to twenty in 2009. He spent the early part of his career at the Media Week Ltd. He holds a dual honors degree in Geography and Politics from Sheffield University. |

James Fallows - National Correspondent, The Atlantic James Fallows is a national correspondent for The Atlantic and has written for the magazine since the late 1970s. He has reported extensively from outside the United States, and once worked as President Carter's chief speechwriter. James Fallows is based in Washington as a national correspondent for The Atlantic. He has worked for the magazine for nearly 30 years and in that time has also lived in Seattle, Berkeley, Austin, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, and Beijing. He was raised in Redlands, California, received his undergraduate degree in American history and literature from Harvard, and received a graduate degree in economics from Oxford as a Rhodes scholar. In addition to working for the Atlantic, he has spent two years as chief White House speechwriter for Jimmy Carter, two years as the editor of US News & World Report, and six months as a program designer at Microsoft. He is an instrument-rated private pilot. He is also now the Chair in US Media at the US Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, in Australia. Fallows has been a finalist for the National Magazine Award five times and has won once; he has also won the American Book Award for nonfiction and has won a N.Y. Emmy award for the documentary series Doing Business in China. He was the founding chairman of the New America Foundation. His two most recent books, Blind Into Baghdad (2006) and Postcards from Tomorrow Square (2009) are based his writings for The Atlantic; he is at work on another book about China. |

Nigel Holmes - Principal, Explanation Graphics Born in England, Nigel Holmes studied illustration at the Royal College of Art in London and then freelanced for magazines and newspapers for 12 years before coming to America in 1978 to work for Time Magazine. He became graphics director at Time, where his pictorial explanations of complex subjects helped readers understand otherwise abstract numbers and difficult scientific concepts. In 1994, he founded his own business, Explanation Graphics, and has worked with a variety of clients including American Express, The Smithsonian Institution, and United Healthcare. He also does graphics and illustrations for publications such as The Atlantic, Harper’s, National Geographic and The New York Times. Pam McCarthy - Deputy Editor, The New Yorker As Deputy Editor, McCarthy works on magazine planning and strategy, oversees the operations of all editorial departments, and is responsible for the development of new platforms and brand extensions, from books to apps. Jane Nicholls - CEO, The Global Mail After 20 years at Time Inc. and four years with People magazine in New York, Jane Nicholls returned home to Sydney, Australia, at the beginning of 2012 to join the launch team of the philanthropically funded news and features website, The Global Mail. A journalist for all her working life (until now!), she was on the 1992 launch staff of People’s Australian edition, Who, where she was features writer, news editor, deputy editor and, from 2002-07, editor. During her time with People in New York, in addition to editing sections of the weekly U.S. title, she oversaw its licensed editions in Australia, India and Greece, training the editorial teams to launch the latter two in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Nicholls worked with Time Inc. consumer marketing to develop VIPeople, a highly successful subscriber loyalty program for People, and also liaised between the magazine’s editorial and ad and production teams. Shawn Waldron - Director of the Conde Nast Archive, Condé Nast Shawn Waldron’s career at Condé Nast began in 2003 when he was hired as the first professionally trained archivist in company history. In 2006 he became the chief archivist for the company. Waldron manages the daily operations of the archive’s 13,000 linear feet of material, including 8,000,000 photographs. The Archive team includes archivists, collections staff, a registrar, researchers, and two digital labs with scanning and retouching specialists. Waldron works closely with the editorial, advertising, and corporate groups at Conde Nast as well as outside curators, editors, authors, and photo researchers. Amy Wrzesniewski - Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior, Yale School of Management Amy Wrzesniewski is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at Yale School of Management. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania magna cum laude with highest honors and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan. Her current research, which has been published in a variety of academic journals, involves studying how employees shape their tasks, interactions, and relationships with others in the workplace to change both their work identity and the meaning of the job.
